Banh Mi is the best Vietnamese fast food that is gaining worldwide recognition. I recommend that you go to the country where banh mi started to find the best banh mi.
My recommendation is Banhmibistro (one word). Their website can be found at http://www.banhmibistro.com.
They currently have 4 locations in Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam that serve freshly made banh mi with different delicious fillings.
The most convenient locations for visitors are the one in the shopping mall Parkson across from the internationa airpot terminal or the one at 76 Vo Thi Sau in district 1. Other locations are listed on their website.
This is absolutely the best banh mi you can find on earth! The bread is so good that it can be kept for several days and still taste delicious. Try their Bistro Special Banh Mi or their Chicken Banh Mi. Those are my favorites.
Enmore Delicious Roll.
From the people who brought us the Rose Sunrise Bakery at Newtown Station… Enmore Delicious Roll is well named…. 207 Enmore Road, Enmore. Try the cheese & salad banh mi… The best Jerry, the best!
Hey,
I’m a longtime Banh Mi appreciator, and have eaten them almost weekly for the last 5-6 years in Sydney. (well until just recently moving to London which is, unfortuantely, a total Banh Mi Wasteland) thats right it is barren! as far as I can tell.
Great site though, shame its a little to USA -centric, howabout adding a Google Map where people can add Map Locations?
Glad you like the site and share our love of banh mi. Since we’ve live in the U.S. and have more knowledge about banh mi’s availabilty here, we’ve created the site off of what we know. We need more input from people like you to help us spread our reach. We’ll work on adding in a google map option to add locations. That is a great idea. Thanks for visiting. -WORC
Bánh mì in London SE16
Just had bánh mì for lunch today at a new Vietnamese restaurant that opened last month at 237 Lower Road, Rotherhithe, London SE16. More details, maps, photos, full review, etc on the Randomness Guide to London.
Favorite Banh mi in Ho Chi Minh
I’ve been living in Ho Chi Minh city for over 10 months, and I must say the quality of a street banh mi stand varies GREATLY. Many times you’ll get a stale, crusty roll that crumbles upon your touch- other times it’s banh mi bliss with the perfect combination of fresh fillings with a light baguette.
My favorite spot is on Ba Thang Hai street, just past the Le Hong Phong intersection. If you scootering towards district three the stand will be about 20 meters past Le Hong Phong on your right. Only sold in the mornings until about 9 or 9:30 so get there early. Xui Mai, Trung Chien, and Cha Ca..along with the BEST baguette. EAT IT!
Banh Mi Bistro. The “Lee’s Sandwiches” of Vietam
If you are ever in Ho Chi Minh City, a must-try is Banh Mi Bistro. There are actually several locations throughout the city and I believe they are continuing to expand, due to increasing popularity. Their baguettes are made fresh daily with the ovens they have in the back of their store. Therefore, Banh Mi Bistro ranks top in terms of freshness and quality. The crispness of the outer portion of the baguette, paired with the soft and warm inner portion of the bread, is what sets Banh Mi Bistro’s baguettes apart from most other banh mi places, where the baguette tends to be tougher to bite into and not fresh. There are a few varieties of banh mi to choose from, but I recommend the “Special Bistro” sandwich. This one consists of the delicious variety of meats and Vietnamese cold cuts, such as barbecue Pork, ham, and Patê. However, if you prefer it more simple, they also have sandwiches with just the BBQ pork, and also chicken.
The hip, vibrant atmosphere also makes this place popular for students. They provide free wi-fi, which makes it a great place to come to study and have meetings at. The staff is friendly and energetic, on top of providing excellent service. In addition to banh mi, they also serve a variety of other delicious pastries, sweet breads, muffins, croissants, etc. Their hot dogs are surprisingly very good! The “bun” they use for the hot dogs are actually baguette-style buns as well, therefore giving it a very unique texture and taste. I normally don’t recommend “Western food” in Vietnam but if you’re craving a hot dog, this is definitely where you should get one! They also sell plain baguette bread, in which many people purchase to eat on its own or to bring home to make their own banh mi sandwiches. They are also known for their gourmet bread bowl, where you can order beef stew or curry to be placed inside a delicious bread bowl!
The more I talk about this place, the hungrier I get. So just go try it for yourself! You can always visit http://www.banhmibistro.com to get location information and look at their menu. Enjoy!
New banhmi place in London Broadway Market
Banhmi11 the new venture dedicated to banhmi is opening at Broadway Market every Saturday 9-5. We will serve banhmi as made-to-order in a banhmi cart just like what you would have in Saigon. Please come and check us out and we would love to hear your feedback.

To’s Bakery in Footscray, Melbourne (Australia) in Footscray Central. They’ve got mouth-watering pork rolls and a smorgasbord of Vietnamese desserts. A few shops down is Nhu Lan, a specialist banh mi bakery – it’s always crowded on the weekends so come early.
Little Devil Cakes & Bakery @ 231 Broadway, Glebe, Sydney (it’s right next to Broadway Shopping Center, across from Sydney Uni park) has some of the BEST banh mi I’ve ever tasted 🙂 The pork roll has cha lua and a bunch of other housemade pressed sausages and their pate is DIVINE!!!!! Pick up a rum ball for dessert and you’ll be a happy camper. The best part? The sandwiches are all under 4 AUD.
Finally a decent place in the heart of Adelaide, check it out in China Town. Banh Mi Vietnamese Bread Rolls, Vermicelli dishes, and vietnamese coffee (cafe sua da) Google Maps Link – http://bit.ly/7EmAvL

I have never been dissapointed and whenever I get the chance I go back and get one. 🙂 Not to mention they also do the BEST lamingtons i have ever had.
The rolls on the other hand fresh with pickled carrot, fresh rolls and the pork roll with both white and red pork is the best..perfect for such a hot city
I found a couple of great spots in Vietnam. I recently wrote a post recapping my findings.
My # 1 bahn mi in Vietnam, Phuong in Hoi An.

There’s a lovely, new, cheap and cheerful banh mi shop in Deptford, London called Panda Panda.
http://panda-panda.co.uk/our-menu/
I can vouch for the former Rose Sunrise Bakery at Newtown Station (Sydney, Australia). I think I have also had a really nice one in Enmore Road. Same people? Wouldn’t surprise me.
Of course Burwood Rd, Burwood (Sydney) would not be Burwood without Vietnamese sandwiches. I am not sure of the street number but the place is on the opposite side of Burwood Rd and uphill from the mall thing.
There’s a tiny place on Elizabeth St near Central Station (Sydney again) only does Vietnamese sandwiches. Not the best I have had but a good choice for local office workers (they are just down the hill from and same side of Elizabeth St as the ‘Corn Cobs’ – 3 tall office buildings).
In Canberra, there is a Vietnamese bakery in the open-air Southlands Shopping Centre at Mawson. I have not had one recently so I can’t comment on quality.
BABANBÈ, THE BANH MI DELI in Berlin Kreuzberg is the first banh mi deli in germany. It’s really delicious and extraordinary in taste! they are open since 1st of october 2010. I can really recommend to go there and have a look. Once again: wow. Best banh mi ever had!!!
BABANBÈ,Oranienplatz 2, Kreuzberg, Berlin
The best banh mi in Singapore!
I’ve been lookign for them in Brisbane and Have foudn two places that have the,. The one up on Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley has closed down so don’t waste your time lookign for them. There is a veit bakery down in west end on the corner of Thomas and Vulture Street which serves them. You need to ask the aldy for them. The bread was great, not that heavy on the chillies whichw as disappointing as i asked for lots, but cheap like $3.50. The meats were cold, you coudl eat two no problem.
The other place is on Edward street, CBD in the food court there, Little Saigon Grill, not to be confused with the ones in Paddington and New Farm. You can get sifferent meats here hot and cold and rpetty tasty. Again not quite hot enough. Not liek the ones i had in Calgary years ago but its a start.
There is apaprently another one in Spring Hill and in West End but i ahven’t checked them out yet.
I thought the first banh mi deli was Co Co…Very delicious Banh Mi Deli in Berlin, Germany:
Cô Cô Bánh Mì Deli
Rosenthalerstr. 2
10119 Berlin
Germany
http://www.co-co.net
It also opened in October 2010, i think..
CALI DELI is the pioneer Banh Mi Cafe in Jakarta, Indonesia…
I had a trip in Jakarta a few months ago, I went to Jl. Surabaya, where you can find many antique shops
And across the antique shops, I found a unique cafe that serves Vietnamese Sandwich and Coffee
I tried Momogy Sandwich (Meatball and Cheese), and Lemon grass Chicken…
The taste was very…very….very….delicious…..I love it…the coffee also great….
The Baguette is so light and crunchy, it tastes delicious…Everything is GREAT….
Well..i have to tell you…you have to go there…
Almost every week i go to Jakarta to have Banh Mi at Cali Deli
One of the best in Sydney – Bay Ngo at Bankstown. Truly delicious and a cut above the rest in this Little Vietnam.
So very yummy banh mi in Melbourne- located in- of all places- the food court at the Barkly Street Mall. The Vietnamese shop creates AMAZING sandwiches using beef or 5 spice chicken (my favourite). SO YUM!
Best in Adelaide South Australia without a doubt is Thanh Long on Hanson Rd. Quality Vietnamese Rolls that deliver on taste and price. Packed daily with Banh Mi connoisseurs from around the area, Thanh Long is not to be missed.
oh how i miss Sydney!! i agree great Banh Mi abounds there, Little Devil on Broadway is great. My favourite spot was the tiny shop on Illawarra Rd near the corner of Marrikville Rd. So much good food in that area. Now in Adeladie I have tried my luck at a few places but so far the buns don’t have the pate or anything other than roast pork. I must admit I am a sucker for layers of different styles of pork. If anyone knows some where that uses the pate please let us know!!
Canada loves banh mi, too! Duffins Donuts in Vancouver, BC, has incredible viet subs, along with any other kind of food your heart could desire (Chinese, burgers, donuts, home made lemonaide….).
Streetside Banh Mi stands are ubiquitous here in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The quality of the bread does vary stand to stand, but some of the best are on Dong Palane Rd., where the road curves going down to Khu Vieng Rd. Look for stands that have the little charcoal oven to heat the bread. PVO restaurant also does good Banh Mi. I can’t vouche for the meat as I’ve only had vegetarian version, which here is “La Vache Qui Rit” cheese in place of the meat.
Australian’s love banh mi! Try N Lee bakery 220 Smith Street Fitzroy Melbourne.
Check out Baguette-The Viet Inspired Deli in Singapore. Great taste. The Saigon Baguette, Soda Chanh, Summer Rolls is to go for. Quite busy during lunch time, better to go for dinner.
Vina bakery in Westfield Shopping Center, Victoria Ave, Chatswood, NSW makes some pretty good banh mi. They have satellite branches elsewhere, but the one in the shopping center is best.
Expat Aussie in Brussels would LOVE to hear about any nearby source of Banh Mi…. it’s been so long…. message Sandra Vignes Christmas on FB!
Hoi An has the best banh mi in the world! Tiem Banh Mi Phuong on Hoang Dieu down the Market end. I have tasted soo many and nothing compares to this perfectly balanced Banh Mi. MUST TRY! my Melbourne Australia haunts will now only disappoint!
Phuong’s Banh Mi is pretty good, nearly as good as the cart on Cua Dai road down from the Sunflower Hotel. In Cabramatta, where else, there is a hole-in-the-wall operation in one of the arcades half way up John St. Great filling ingredients but particularly impressive is the quality of the bread roll. If you can get in through the pressing throng to get one, you will be happy. Pass marks to the Vince Bakery in Ulludulla – at least they are trying to bring Banh Mi to the great unwashed in regional Oz!
Is there anywhere in adelaide that has vegetarian banh mi?
Minh Tan Bakery in Inala (Brisbane) makes awesome banh mi. It’s inside the shopping centre just inside the Western entrance.
There are combinations of chicken, pork mince, pork loaf and pork fillet (pork fillet bit sinewy). They are truly delicious.
Inala Plaza 156 Inala Ave
Inala, QLD 4077
Try Van Loi Banh Mi. 313 Chapel Road South Bankstown, Sydney. The rolls are so crunchy and fresh and the fillings are delicious. To top it off the rolls start at $3.00!!!
If you are looking for the best banh mi in Sydney you’ll be silly not to start in Vietnamese central – cabramatta offers the best Vietnamese foods in Sydney, authentic and regional varieties exist in the small Mecca. Viet Hoa hot bread on the main street John street sells the best banh mi rolls of different flavours, you can get traditional pork, chicken and then have the meatball roll and the Vietnamese sausage roll as well. There is always a line even in the wee hours of the morning as they are open 24 hours a day which ensures their bread is fresh, we live near cabramatta and love going for 2am pork roll runs and the pate they spread on the rolls can also be bought on its own. Try them you won’t be disappointed!!!!
If you are after anything vietnamese in south east Qld you go to Inala town sqaure. Follow your nose and as everyone has their own likes you will need to try them all!! If you want fresh veges and produce to make your own, be sure to turn up early as that is when it all at its freshest.
KHAI TRI
93 Avenue d’Ivry 75013 Paris, France
Fresh, cheap, delicious!
Is also a book store; don’t get confused or you’ll miss out on the best bahn mi in Paris! Trust me, I tried a few of the nearby places, more expensive, less fillings, not as flavorful or fresh-tasting.

I am addicted to the banh mi at Tung Hing Cafe & Sweets (905) 527-8333 Queen St N
Hamilton, ON L8R 3P6. My fave is the grilled lemongrass pork. Oh so good! And you have to try the baking, scrumptious.
Dear All,
We ve just opened a Banh mi Place in Paris France.
Please Check out our web site : http://www.bulmaparis.fr
Thank you for your support
Bulma Team
http://www.whiteguycooksthai.com.au (a new food truck in Melbourne Australia) has a duck confit banh mi… It is crazy good. To’s bakery in Footscray is also a sheer delight!
Hello All. We are in Sligo, a beautiful town on the West Coast of Ireland. Last week we opened a new casual restaurant with a Global Street Food Menu, esp our favourites – AutoBahns, Gourmet Burritos & Banh Mi Vietnamese Sandwiches. Today we’ll be serving up our Banh Mi for the very first time. Wish us luck! Bringing the Banh Mi message to the west coast! (If your in Ireland check us out at 3, Teeling Street, Sligo)
Tiger bakery: 330 Racecourse Rd Flemington (Melbourne) – yummy tiger rolls that are really crunchy and crispy!
Delightful people that work there and never busy. You have to try the BBQ pork.
Nhu Lan and To’s (Footscray) are hands down the best in Australia.
Saigon Sandwich Shop and Little Vietnam Cafe have the best bahn mi for my taste in
San Francisco, CA. Has anyone tried the Cart Lady at 37 Nguyen Trai Street in Saigon?
Heard she makes a wicked grilled pork bahn mi. Hope I can find her when I visit Vietnamn next month.
So far the best I have tasted in Eastern Melbourne is Wendy’s bakery in Witehorse Rd, Mitcham. Their use of smashed pork crackling gives their Banh Mi a great kick. They do not use the pressed sausage and only use roast pork not BBQ pork so the rolls are a little “Australianised” but have all Viet vegetable ingredients etc and great pate. and are very fresh.
Banh Mi Bay on Theobolds road in Holborn is excellent. Going to Ho Chi Minh tomorrow so looking forward to trying the above places.
Kingsvale Bakery.
Cnr of Springvale Rd and Windsor Ave. Springvale, Melbourne, Vic, Australia.
If you are in Melbourne and like Vietnamese food, get down to Springvale. This is a must!
It’s like Mini Vietnam. It probably has the highest density of Vietnamese people anywhere in Victoria.
I’m down there everyweek, market shopping, and almost always take a Banh Mi away with me.
In Sydney….
hunter connection Asian food court above Wynyard Station has 3 great Banh Mi places all competing. Typical price is $4.50 plus great spring rolls also very cheap.
Chop Shop in York St near the Grace Hotel also has fantastic Banh Mi.
I haven’t tried the place near Broadway yet even though it’s so close to where I live.
The best place I have found in Sydney is at a bakery in Sutherland… just near the train station. THE BEST bread rolls there so fresh with a perfect crust.
In Melbourne… well some of my favourite memories are those delicious pork with chili banh mi at Chapel Street Prahran near Coles. So good… it was also very popular with the police and firemen, one day I saw a fire engine come down the street with siren going, just to pull over outside the bakery aorta all the crew could get lunch at the bakery!
Parap markets,Darwin (Australia) on Saturday mornings all year round…fabulous!!!
Moss Vale, NSW, Australia – in Moss Vale arcade in the centre of the main street ( Argyle St.) the Vietnamese bakery does an excellent banh mi. Sold as “Pork or Chicken Roll” they are big crispy rolls chock full of the usual ingredients. A real treat, to find this 120kms outside of Sydney. I’m logging this from Saigon after three weeks, trying banh mi all over Vietnam, encoding and I’ll be glad to line up for one in Moss Vale next week when I’m home.
Really liked what you had to say in your post, Banh Mi Battle | Banh Mi International, thanks for the good read!

We live in London and have tried out all the Banh Mi spots. The best, we thought, was Pho Express, 149 Upper Street, Islington. Here’s what we thought http://www.saltpigcanteen.com/banhmi/
We’re currently in Vietnam and have had a great time trying all the Banh Mi we can get our hands on. The best we found was a small corner shop at 252 Hang Bong, Hanoi.
If you’re in Melbourne CBD, you can’t go past N.Lee’s bakery on Little Collins St, near Spring St
If you are in Melbourne, Mai Lan bakery in Preston (435 High St) has a pretty good banh mi. Generous, tasty. Easy on the chilli though
Enjoy!
Being a major fan of pork rolls and having travelled to many places in sydney on countless weekends feasting on my favourite healthy (albiet at times depending on the quality of chillies -very deliciously spicy ) snack . I would like to share with all Banh Mi lovers a hidden gem that sells ridiculously cheap (under $5) pork rolls and EVEN BETTER CHICKEN ROLLS!!! ( with their perfectly marinated and juicy chicken which is not oily at all !). The shop is located in the suburb of Ashfield called “Hercules Bakery” located on hercules street next to the station and i would definitely recommend readers to try out the amazing rolls there ( and dont forget to add chilli ) unfortunately im based abroad but whenever im back in town my tastesbuds will always drive me there ! 🙂
Food Lover
There is also a Hercules bakery in Sydney as one of the 3 at Wynyard Station mentioned above so Hercules at Sutherland as well. they must be good.
Also the N.Lee bakery in Smith St Fitzroy named above is as good as they say. Go there!
Hands down the best, a small street shop in Hoi An in Vietnam, called Banh Mi Phuong. One cannot go to Hoi An without stopping here for lunch.
I am surprise no one has mentioned Fresh Chilli Deli in St Albans and Sunshine Melbourne that’s definitely where my favorite Banh Mi comes from. They bake all day so the rolls are super fresh, and the flavours are well balanced, I like the Mixed Ham and Nem Nuong ones there. They are at 61 Alfrieda St St Albans and 2/304-310 Hampshire Rd in Sunshine.
We found Sensiika driving past one day. It’s a bit strange, a Thai cafe attached to a day spa. Given how busy it looked, though, we decided to put it on the list of places to visit for breakfast.
I am so, so glad that we did. Holy smazoley. It’s all tinky waterfall and Buddha statue and rainforesty green trees, just like a spa, but there’s tables to sit at and wait staff. Kinda like you’re expected to meditate over your eggs benedict or sumfink. Anyways, it was pretty quiet when we arrived because we rolled out of bed at asshole o’clock (the joys of having a kitten eager to chow down on some kibbles and growl at some birdies, am I right?) and there was only one other table. Another arrived shortly after us and had their coffee and food orders taken before us, which irritated my hungry stomach to no end. After a short wait that my intestines insisted was FOREVAH, we ordered some Thai iced coffees (I never knew there was such a thing) and lunch things for breakfast. For those of you who have read a couple of posts (read: all of our posts so far) or the introduction to this blog, you will understand that we adore breakfast. Well, food in general, but ESPECIALLY breakfast. So it was weird that we ordered lunch things at breakfast time but these lunch things sounded so amazing that we had to get them.
THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I am a diehard banh mi fan, which is why I chose a lunch item at breakfast. I don’t even know if Vietnamese people actually eat banh mi at breakfast or lunch, but to me it seems lunchy. But I digress (as always). This was a barbecue pork banh mi roll, the likes of which had never graced my tastebuds before. Let me tell you right now – it’s a flavour SENSATION. Walk/drive/scoot/ride your ass down there and get one of these in your gob. Unless you don’t want to, in which case you suck at life. Anyways, this place has mysteriously been missed off from the list of best banh mi joints in Brisbane, and that is an absolute travesty. I’m disgusted. It needs to be number one, and that’s coming from someone who has eaten their own bodyweight and more of banh mi (not all at once, which actually sounds like a fun thing to do and I’ll have to look into that). This shiz was filling, funky fresh and fabulous. Perfect way to start one’s day, I reckon.
Image
PIC chose the hot duck wrap. Normally I try to eat something from her plate because I’m a scabby jerk, but in this instance I didn’t because there would have been less room to finish my own meal. That’s saying a lot about the banh mi, by the way. ANYHOO, this is about the duck stuff now, please excuse my train of thought jumping the tracks once again. I just get so excited by banh mi. I have it on good authority that the hot duck wrap was every bit as delicious as the banh mi. Perfect amount of sauce to other stuff ratio, beautifully cooked duck, basically just like a huge and even more tasty version of those delightful duck pancakes that you get from good Asian restaurants. If you haven’t eaten those, do that. Or just get one of these wraps.
Oh, and the Thai iced coffees. FUCKING GOOD, MATE. Like, their coffee/milk/sugar ratio was bang on, it was icy, it was creamy, it was everything you’d expect an iced coffee to be. I’m not sure where the Thai element came in, but I was happy about it nonetheless. Get one of those while you’re getting your roll and your wrap and you’ll understand what oral Utopia is (wait… that could be something else. But I’m talking about your tastebuds, guys. I swear).
Look no further if you are in Adelaide (South Australia), we sat down and had 27 Banh Mi in one sitting to find the best.
http://www.onthechoppingboard.com/2014/03/banh-mi-adelaide-suburban-roundup-where.html
enjoy!
I left a comment about Wendy’s bakery in Mitcham, East Melbourne some time ago( Oct 2012) which was complimentary. Well Wendy has sold the business ) which still offers good Bahn Mi, but she has taken her talents to a new store opposite the Wendy’s site and she has expanded the range.
Before she only offered roasted pork now she has the full gamut of Vietnamese meats and cooking styles to choose from, with a friendly Irishman behind the counter who sometimes seems a bit puzzled by the whole Bahn Mi passion that Aussies have for the cuisine. Give the new place a try at 520 Whitehorse Rd, Mitcham.
I agree that Banh mi phoung in Hoi An is THE BEST. It blew my mind. Another worthy mention is Nguyen French Hot Bread on Canley Vale Rd, Sydney ( up from the station).Try the honey roasted chicken roll. You won’t be disappointed.
Another vote for Footscray in Melbourne Australia where there is a large Vietnamese community. Nu Lan bakery has been serving the best Banh Mi for at least 20 years!! They have kebab, bbq chicken, chicken & onion, bbq pork, mixed ham, vegetarian, tofu and my favorite the meatball. Great value and the place packed from about 10 in the morning to 8 at night.
2 names in Melbourne are the absolute BEST!!!
Fresh Chilli Deli
http://www.freshchillideli.com
Currently has 2 stores, 61 Alfrieda st, St Albans and shop 2/304 Hampshire rd Sunshine
and
Ba’get
http://www.baget.com.au
Currently has 2 stores in Melbourne CBD 132 Russell st and corner of Latrobe and Elizabeth st.
Hi fellow Bahn Mi lovers.
I have found another ripper of a Bahn mi store in Bayswater a suburb east of Melbourne Australia.
Previously I told you about 2 places in Mitcham, but this one in Bayswater is without doubt the best yet. It is called Bamboo Asian Cuisine @ 4/2 High St Bayswater and offer traditional cold Bahn Mi fillings or BBQ chicken, roast crackling pork, satay beef, pork balls plus the absolute best Vietnamese salads I have had: pork, chicken or beef – large or small.
They also do good goi cuon (rice paper rolls with prawn or chicken or tofu or beef or pork) and their hoisin sauce always has a decent spoonful of hot chilli paste in the container to dip the goi cuon in
They also offer a small range of hot Asian meals (excellent) with fried rice (could be better) and a selection of Dim Sum.
This place always now has lines out the door at lunch time but they care about the food and they will not be rushed. They are among 3 other Vietnamese restaurants mainly offering Pho and hot meals but Bamboo just keep pumping out the good stuff!!!
Great site!
I first fell in love with these amazing sandwiches at a great restaurant in Boston called ‘Myers & Chang’ which serves a mix of different Asian cuisines (really miss that place– if you go, try the coal black wings, genmai rice, tigers tears salad, heck just about everything on the menu is great, it’s almost worth making the trip to Boston just to eat at M&C!). Now I’m based in London and get my bahn mi fix from a little Vietnamese restaurant in the North West called ‘Ladadu’. Check it out. They do a great green papaya salad too (technically Thai but who cares, it’s so tasty).
But I’m always on the look out for more places so will check out the other recommendations.
Thanks guys.
Hi, a couple more places that do good banh mi
In Singapore
1) Nam Nam: a chain founded by a former boat person from 1975, with several branches around Singapore. They also serve pho and Vietnamese coffee.
http://namnamnoodlebar.com.sg/
2) Yummy Viet: a Vietnamese restaurant located in Smith Street, Chinatown district – a foodie haven just one block north of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. Banh mi is one of their offerings, along with the full array of Vietnamese delights.
https://www.tripadvisor.com.my/Restaurant_Review-g294265-d1526500-Reviews-Yummy_Viet-Singapore.html
In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Two places in a shopping mall called One Utama
3) Vietnam Kitchen: A full-fledged Vietnamese restaurant that includes banh mi in a menu that also includes other delights such as banh xeo, banh cuon and pho
http://food.malaysiamostwanted.com/venues/vietnam-kitchen-one-utama-bandar-utama-pj
4) Also in One Utama is O Banh Mi, a smaller cafe-like place that focuses on banh mi and pho.
https://www.tripadvisor.com.my/ShowUserReviews-g298313-d5021825-r270041812-O_Banh_Mi-Petaling_Jaya_Petaling_District_Selangor.html
5) Not strictly a banh mi place, but Hoagies Hauz is a sandwich shop located in the NU Sentral Mall (next to KL Central LRT station). Banh mi is one of their offerings.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hoagies-Hauz-Nu-Sentral/730503727069054
Enjoy!
Hard to get to, but the best banh mi is at one of banh mi carts across the lane from Duy Tan University Quang Trung campus in Da Nang. Up the alley to the left of DaNang Petro Hotel on Quang Trung Street, 2 blocks from the Han River. My daily lunch staple every time I’m in Da Nang! Cost, about 50 cents.
the best in South-western Sydney is the Quoc Thanh Hot bread Shop near Ingleburn Station, next to St George Bank
Number 14, Oxford Rd Ingleburn, Epic as….
Try Bánh Năm for the best, clean, fresh bánh mì. 3 locations in Saigon at the moment. Check out http://www.banhnam.vn for current locations.
Love it!
